Debòrah Ann Villepigue GG, MGJ,
Debòrah A Villepigue is a highly respected member of the jewelry industry is one of only 19 people in the world who has been awarded the prestigious title of Independent Certified Gemologist Appraiser (ICGA).
Debòrah is also an Advanced Personal Property Appraiser (APPA), from The American Gem Society.
She has been actively involved in the jewelry business since 1986. As The Jewelry Appraiser Inc., she maintains an office and the only designated Certified gemological laboratory. American Gem Society (AGS) in New York State located at 1295 Northern Blvd. suite #15 Manhassett, New York, 11030.
She is currently a full time appraiser of Gems, Jewelry and all Metals. The Jewelry Appraiser Inc. is an Independent Certified and Accredited Gem Laboratory, were We neither buy nor sell. Yet Deborah will help in all phases of the clients jewelry needs The Jewelry Appraiser Inc. appraisals are accepted by all Courts, the US Government, the IRS, US Customs, Law Enforcement Agencies, major insurance companies, as well as by jewelers, auction houses nationwide and other businesses. Ms. Villepigue’s appraisals are used to determine the identification and value for all jewelry (estate and modern) and metals (precious and base). Debòrah maintains a current data file for her past appraisals for the period of 7 years. Her library includes authoritative appraisal manuals and past & current price indexes, as well as reference books and trade periodicals. Debòrah’s gemological education has earned her the Graduate Gemologist (GG) Degree from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). Advanced Gemological and Appraisal training has earned her the title of Advanced Personal Property Appraiser (APPA) and Independent Certified Gemological Appraiser (ICGA). Ms. Villepigue is the only one to hold this title in New York State and 1 of 19 in the US. She also has earned the Accredited Senior Gemologist (AGA) by the Accredited Gemologists Association also a Registered Master Valuer (RMV) degree, the first of such in New York. As a graduate of the Bulova School of Jewelry, she has earned the title of Graduated Master Jeweller (GMJ). She is a past officer of the Gemological Institute of America Alumni Association. She is still an active member of the Alumni. She is an active chapter member of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), also a Senior Certified Member of The National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (CSM-NAJA). Debòrah is a member of the Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC) which helps to maintain honesty and integrity in the jewelry industry. Ms. Villepigue has a great passion for the Law. When she sees people not abiding by the law in the Jewelry Industry, she will make all attempts for the ‘right thing’ to be done. She is also a current member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, as well as The American Society of Jewelry Historians. Debòrah is active in many different jewelry organizations in the United States. She is a member of the Chamber of Commerce. Debòrah continues her education and training every year through: The American Society of Appraisers, the Gemological Institute of America, the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers, the Forensics of Gemology and the American Gem Society.
Various courts throughout New York State have retained Deborah, The Jewelry Appraiser Inc., on numerous occasions for expert witness testimony. She also works with different District Attorneys on the Forensics of jewelry for the purpose of determining value for prosecution or defense, criminal matters and civil matters also for which State and Federal inheritance taxes are based. Debòrah is one of the primary Jewelry Appraisers for New York State.
Debòrah has extensive experience in all phases of the jewelry industry. She was a buyer of colored gemstones, pearls and diamonds for television productions and major retailers. She also was a designer and manufacturer of jewelry for major catalogues that have circulated in the U.S. and internationally. Her expertise in colored gemstones and pearls was greatly enhanced during her early years of employment as a consultant for American Express in the Fine Jewelry Department.
Deborah has worked in the gemological equipment departments as a consultant. She has helped to develop the GMK series of Microscopes and many other tools that are used worldwide by the jewelry industry. She has also assisted in the lighting industry. Her findings have changed the LED lighting world wide Debòrah helps to maintain honesty and integrity in the wholesale, manufacture and retail areas of the jewelry industry by advising industry members and organizations.
Debòrah has been recognized by Cambridge’s Who’s Who in 2010 and awarded the title of VIP in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
Debòrah is active with many Native American organizations and works very closely with the Native American Councils in both jewelry and the true art form of Native American Art. She is a designer and creator of different important pieces of art and jewelry for the heads of the Native American Councils, as well as an educator and lecturer on Native American Jewelry, stones, artwork and culture.
Deborah donates her free time to many charitable organizations and is an active member of the Women’s Jewelry Association (WJA) and an active member of the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW).
